Our story

GoTransit Media Group was founded in late 2010 by media executives Rob Gamble and Rick Chapman, along with their long-term shareholder Australia’s Associated Media Investments.

  • At acquisition the group had transit media assets covering 15 markets mainly in coastal Queensland.
  • Through the next few years the company expanded its footprint into NSW, acquiring new markets in the Central Coast and coastal northern NSW and securing long-term licensing arrangements with bus fleets in Newcastle, Ballarat, Geelong and Wodonga.

2012

2014

GoTransit substantially expands its geographic base.

  • GoTransit acquired the Bus Advertising Group, which secured key markets including the ACT, Tasmania, Wollongong and a further 20 regional markets in NSW.
  • In the same year GoTransit was successful in winning the tender for the Gold Coast Light Rail and also won the tender for the Darwin Bus fleet from the Northern Territory Government.

2016

  • GoTransit further expanded its Melbourne network through the successful acquisition of the Oakleigh, Sunshine, Tullamarine and Wyndham markets.
  • GoTransit continued supporting the transition towards more sustainable transport. As vehicle technology advanced, electric buses and newer diesel vehicles featuring High-Efficiency Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle engine technology were progressively introduced across partner fleets.
  • Illuminated Taxi Tops were launched on the Gold Coast and in Cairns, expanding GoTransit’s taxi advertising offering.

2026

New measurement, technology and premium networks.

  • Transit advertising and regional out-of-home markets were incorporated into the Outdoor Media Associations new MOVE measurement platform, Australia’s industry audience-measurement currency for out-of-home advertising.
  • GoTransit continued expanding its premium network through the acquisition of Big Bus Sydney, Hobart SkyBus and additional Melbourne SkyBus fleets.
  • The company’s production facility will also receive a major technology upgrade, including the installation of state-of-the-art printers that will be the first of their kind in Queensland.

Why out-of-home transit advertising should be part of your business plan

Accelerate business growth

For small business owners, transit advertising is a game-changer. It’s affordable, flexible, and super-visible.

This type of marketing targets local audiences effectively and creates repeated impressions, helping you win new customers and speed up your business growth.

Always-on advertising

Transit ads work around the clock. They’re visible all day, every day—during peak commuting times and late at night.

Commuters and pedestrians see these ads constantly as vehicles make their rounds, giving your business repeated exposure.

Raise your profile locally

Want to establish a strong local presence? Transit out-of-home ads can help you do just that. They become a frequent and familiar sight in the community, reminding people that you exist.

You can choose specific areas that align with your target market, making sure your ads reach the right audience.

Invest sustainably

Transit ads often come with a lower cost per thousand impressions (CPM) compared to TV or radio ads.

You can scale your campaign to fit your budget, whether it’s a single bus route or an entire fleet. This makes it a sustainable investment for your business.

Amplify your message

Transit out-of-home advertising amplifies your other marketing efforts. It complements digital, radio, or print campaigns, helping create a cohesive strategy that reminds people of what you offer and why you’re special.
